LIFE in balance

The meaning of LIFE? It’s simple, my boy:

Love,
Improve,
Fortify, and
Enjoy

The L is for Love, it’s a practice, a choice.
It’s not a reaction, a feeling or force.

To love is to choose - kindness again --
And again and again and again, and then,

You’re ready for I - Improve what you find -
Be it hunger, disparity, or moral decline;

Use your art or your heart or your hands or your mind,
But always in smallways serve humankind.

F is to Fortify, body and brain.
Stress them and test them and push through the pain.

Always be learning and never stop trying;
Remember that when you stop growing you’re dying!

But don’t forget E, in the midst of your strife;
Remember to also Enjoy your life!

Have fun; be rebellious; find people you cherish;
Laugh til you’re crying and play til you’re breathless.

All letters of LIFE are important, you see,
And support each other, to some degree -

For how can you hope to improve on inequity
If you have not fortified your own dexterity?

And similarly how could you hope to enjoy
A life without love for your fellowgirl (or boy)?

So choose again kindness and harness your talents,
And enjoy what’s before you -

LIFE hangs in the balance.
